Decorating Outside

Well, since we pack up our decorations right after New Year's day, this will be the last week of participating in Kate's "Deck the Halls" picture sharing.

Here are out outdoor decorations.

Unfortunately, our deer are ready to retire this year as well as a couple of candy canes. Oh well!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Well, the stockings are hung, the tree is decorated and Christmas music is all you hear at our house.

We've been in this house a little over three years, but I am still building up my supply of decorations and figuring out how everything should look. I figure in a few more years, I may have a set way of decorating for the holidays that will become tradition in our house. For now we are still playing around with it all.

Our little tree is fake, but it serves us well. It is set up in the living room.

Our stockings are also in the living room. Last year I bought simple, plain stockings from the dollar store and then glued rhinestones on them with our initials.

When we unpacked our stuff this year, we found they were ruined. So, this year I ordered new ones with embroidery from orientaltrading.com. My stocking says "Mommy", hubby's says "Daddy" and each of the kids have their names on their stockings.

Our breakfast nook has two snowflakes hanging on the wall and pine scented candle on the table.

The only decoration in the kitchen are two little dish towels that are hanging on the oven door. I'm sure that will change in the years to come.

My little village has migrated this year from the living room to the front of the house on top of the piano. Eventually, when we figure out a better place for it, I'd like to add to it and maybe even make a cool background. My dad sets up his village with a really cool starry night background that really twinkles! For now, my village is just right for our space.

That's about the extent of our indoor decorations!
